About Nayarit
Nayarit, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Nayarit, is one of the 31 states that, along with Mexico City, comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided in 20 municipalities and its capital city is Tepic. It is bordered by the states of Sinaloa to the northwest, Durango to the north, Zacatecas to the northeast and Jalisco to the south.

Compostela, also a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town), it will captivate you with its beautiful streets and colonial buildings such as the Templo de la Misericordia de San Santiago Apóstol (Temple of Mercy of San Santiago Apóstol) and La Hacienda Miravalles (Miravalles Hacienda, which dates back to the 16th century.
Nayarit’s gastronomy is recognized as an Intangible Heritage of the State and its flavor fusion makes it unique. Be sure to try the zarandeado fish, the chicharrón de pescado (fish rind) and traditional capirotada for dessert.
