Celebrating our 1-year anniversary in Mexico

Today we celebrate our 1 year anniversary in Mexico.

Last year, during the pandemic, Geordie and I came to Bucerias, Mexico for a holiday. 2 weeks in and we knew this is where we wanted to land our feet for at least the next few years. We decided to extend our holiday in order to find a long-term rental for September (not a simple task to say the least as more and more people are looking to move to Mexico, especially Bucerias). Once we found a suitable place to live, we went back home, announced the news to our family, sold our cars, sold our stuff, packed our most precious things into 20 large suitcases (lots of clothes for me), and our not-so-willing 13-year old daughter. We said our goodbyes to our older kids, family and friends and embarked on our new life in Mexico.

During our first year, we got sick a lot as we adjusted to the water, new food, and climate. However, now that we're over the major stresses of year 1 such as getting our residency, finding the perfect location to live, finding the right school for our daughter, finding the best Spanish program, and buying a car, we feel like we can breathe a little easier. Now we get to build and design the life we want, in this glorious country.

We are now embarking on a new business with our company; Nayarit Living. Our aim is to help people find their perfect long-term rental home, retirement home, vacation home, piece of land or investment in the Nayarit region. We're excited because Geordie and I get to grow this business together and our clients get the benefit of having the 2 of us so they will always be well looked after.

Here's to another year filled with love, health, friends, travel, exploration and prosperity. We look forward to serving you or simply sharing a conversation and a cocktail or 2 by the sea.

Hasta luego.
